Uma Ganesh has three decades of success in corporate and entrepreneurial ventures covering and Manufacturing, Media, Banking, Education and IT sectors.

Uma’s last corporate assignment was with HSBC as their Chief Corporate Development Officer for its Global Resourcing Business where she was responsible for Next Gen transformation in the bank’s global in-house centres in the Asian footprints. Prior to this she was with Zee Media as the CEO of Zee Education with the mandate to build a scalable new business in education as an offshoot of the primary media business.

Her entrepreneurial venture Global Talent Track attracted investment by Intel Capital, CISCO and Helion Ventures. This venture is one of the leading vocational skills companies that uses the blended learning model and acts as the bridge between the academia and the industry and has so far impacted one million youth in the country.

She has also cofounded 5 F World which is focussed on investment in digital start ups, digital transformation related consulting, digital learning through Skills Alpha and the Centre for AI and Advanced Analytics. Besides these ventures, she is the co founder of NES – Natarajan Education Society aimed at employability and women’s empowerment of under privileged sections of the society .

Uma’s academic credentials include BA in Economics from Madras University, MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi and Phd from IIT Bombay. She has played leadership roles in several industry forums namely CII, NHRD Network, Bombay Management Association, Indian Women’s Network (IWN) to name a few. She has co-authored a book – a Tata McGrawHill publication ‘Knowledge Force’ with Dr Ganesh Natarajan and has a regular column in the Financial Express focussed around Digital technologies, skills and socio economic issues.
